CAVAN FC – 2001 U16 GIRLS TEAM – SEASON WRAP-UP

2017 was a great year for the Cavan FC 2001 girls soccer team with 11 wins, two tie games, and 3 losses (including a 10-game unbeaten streak!).   The team won at least one game against every other team in the division except for the league winners, who stopped them with 1-0 and 5-2 games.  After this great season of league play, the team finished in second place and will be promoted to the Regional Central Soccer League (CSL) with a higher level of competition in 2018.

The results of the season are even more special because the team welcomed many new players to Cavan FC. One highlight of the season was participating in three different tournaments.  Though the results were mixed, the experience helped to develop the team’s playing style and build understanding and a shared competitive spirit that really showed in the team’s league play.

The club would also like to acknowledge & congratulate Head Coach, Amy Clarke, Assistant Coaches Scott Poser & Liz Shaughnessy-Rowe along with team managers, Greg & Lisa Zeller for their successful season. Due to their positive commitment, organization & devotion to team technical & tactical training this team is well prepared for their promotion into the CSL.

The team would like to thank Maple Leaf Cavan FC, their sponsors The Quarry Golf and Country Club and Apollo Grill, the community and parents and friends for all of the support they received in 2017.

While the Cavan FC 01 girls just wrapped up their season on September 14th, they are already looking forward to next year.  An open tryout is scheduled beginning this weekend (see www.mlcfc.ca).  See you on the pitch!!
