Becoming a Referee

First and foremost please register with our club so that we know you are interested in reffing for us: www.mlcfc.com/house-league-recreational/referees/referee-sign-up/

The Ontario Soccer Association offers two courses to those looking to become registered referees in Ontario: Small Sided Referee clinics and Entry Level Referee clinics. Referee courses are usually offered in the spring before the start of the outdoor season.

Small Sided Game Course*

The Small Sided Game Course is for those who would like to become an accredited referee on 7 v 7 games. By taking the course a referee is automatically registered for the current season with the OSA and does not have to register again until the following year. Course accreditation is valid permanently, no re-accreditation on Small Sided Game (7 v 7) is required.

The Small Sided Course is based on the Laws of the Small Sided Game.

The Peterborough Youth Soccer Club is hosting three Small Sided Referee Courses, on June 12. You must register through the Ref Centre Course Management website. You can contact the Peterborough Youth Soccer Club for details.

*Must be 12 years of age (or older) as of March 31 to enroll in this course.

Entry Level Course**

The Entry Level Referee Clinic is for those who would like to become an accredited referee on 9 v 9 and 11 v 11 games. By taking the clinic a referee is automatically registered for the current season with the OSA and does not have to register again until the following year.

**Must be 14 years of age (or older) as of March 31 to enroll in this course.

Returning Ref’s

Please pre-register here: hwww.mlcfc.com/house-league-recreational/referees/referee-sign-up/

The refs are required to attend one refresher clinic and complete the online exam.

They are also required to do an online exam. This can be found on Ref Centre.

There is no cost or pre-registration required to attend the refresher clinic.  You just need to bring a pen/pencil and your law book.
